A new opportunity to back top-performing British robotics & AI companies

Britbots is proud today to launch the British Robotics Scale-Up Fund, which complements the British Robotics seed funds that have been raised over the last two years.

The objective of this new fund is to make targeted scale-up investments into robotics, AI, automation or autonomous vehicle businesses that have already shown initial commercial traction. It is anticipated the majority of the fund’s investee companies will be sourced from the top-performers within the existing Britbots portfolio.

Robotics and automation are general-purpose technologies that are applicable to a wide range of industries. In the past, other general-purpose technologies such as steam, electricity or the Internet have had driven a profound value-creation impact by boosting productivity.

Given this diversity of applications, the Scale-Up Fund portfolio is expected to encompass a wide range of business sectors. Each investment made will have the potential for rapid growth and a potential exit within three to six years, although this is not guaranteed.

Each investee company will be supported by the investment manager, Sapphire Capital Partners LLP, and the company mentor, Britbots. Mentoring activities will look to develop the commercial aspects of the businesses and ensure that capital is deployed appropriately.
