The focus on automation derives from the recognition of three core productivity crises which both economies and companies are currently experiencing and which are worsening as global consumption levels continue to rise:
- Labour crisis: Global employment growth has declined by 90% over the last 50 years
- Environmental crisis: Humans are using natural resources 70% faster than ecosystems can regenerate
- Energy crisis: To achieve Net Zero targets, companies’ and economies’ net carbon emissions must be reduced by 100% over the next 30 years
Automation technologies allow scarce resources to go further; allowing outputs to grow or stabilise whilst reducing inputs.
